The BER’s retail business confidence index increased by 7 index points to end at a level of 46 during 2012Q3, partially reversing the 22 index-point drop registered during 2012Q2. The rise in confidence comes on the back of mixed fortunes within the retail sector, with durable and semi-durable retailers seemingly outperforming their peers in the non-durable goods category. Looking forward, retailers expect trading conditions to improve somewhat heading into the festive season.
