The BER retail business confidence index shed 22 index points to end at a level of 39 during 2012Q2, mainly on the back of a substantial slowdown in the growth in retail sales volumes across all sub-categories. Looking ahead, the growth in retail sales volumes is likely to moderate further during the second half of 2012, as real income growth is expected to slow.
